Tuesday 20th April saw the launch of the West Indies school of hospitality in collaboration with E-Cornell University, the online education department of New York-based E-Cornell University which offers various online certifications.

Individuals in the hospitality sector through their respective hotels can now access education that will be directly relevant to their line of work.

The founders are owner of silver sands resort Naguib Sawiris and chairman of the Grenada tourism association Barry Collymore who announced that 6000 courses will be offered to Grenadians every year at no cost…

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell expressed his support for the initiative. he said tourism is important to the overall success of the country.

Minister for tourism, Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen also welcomed the hospitality school as a means to revive the tourism sector heavily impacted by the covid-19 pandemic.

Courses such as service excellence, hospitality leadership, and food and beverage management will be made available to Grenadians. Hospitality workers including managers, supervisors and general service staff will be eligible for scholarships.
