Two male members of staff at the Mt. Gay Psychiatric Hospital are presently being investigated for alleged sexual assault \ rape on a patient.
Reports are that the young female patient has been placed at the facility for more than a year.
According to reports she expressed her discomfort being at the institution and asked to be removed however up to news time she was still warded at the facility.
GBN contacted minister with responsibility for hospital services Delma Thomas on Tuesday, who indicated that the two individuals are presently on leave, while the public service commission deliberates on the next course of action.
Preliminary information reaching our news desk stated that the young lady was impregnated as a result of the alleged rape, however further probe revealed that this is not so.
GBN understands the alleged victim was placed with the institution but not for medical purposes.
A plea goes out to relatives to render assistance to the young lady who needs their support.
