Organizers have registered as being successful the 3rd hosting of the Grenada Invitational Meet.

It was an evening of fun, food, fanfare and flags as scores of Grenadians converged on the Kirani James Athletics Stadium for  the annual Grenada Invitational.

Now into its third year, the event attracted the likes of international sprint stars Shelly-ann Fraser-Pryce, Andre De Grasse and Justin Gatlin.

Also in the mix was Grenada’s  400m sprint sensation Bralon Taplin, who successfully  defend his title in exquisite fashion.

Prime Minister Dr.Keith Mitchell was among those at Saturday’s meet, citing it as a tremendous success.

“The Country’s image is promoted regionally and internationally and of course its good exposure for the young people. In sports whether its athletics or cricket, any sports I think its good for the country”.

Sports  Minister Senator Norlan Cox  was also at the meet and weighed in on his experience, saying  ‘this is a success. It takes a lot of people to put this meet together’.

He said organizers wanted to make sure things run smoothly this year, with next year being an Olympic year.

Grenada’s Kirani James was among those headlining the event though in his ambassadorial capacity.

Saturday’s meet provided varied opportunities and memories for all, even the athletes.

Many commended the food, the environment and the event.

The dust may have settled on the 2019 Grenada Invitational, with organizers already setting their sight on next year’s event.

However the memories and euphoria of the games will for ever linger on for years to come.
