Acting Chief Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health, Dr Francis Martin has advised against members of the public abusing the telephone hotline activated to accommodate calls from people who suspect they may be carrying the novel coronavirus.
The two helplines 45-VIRUS and 53-VIRUS were fully activated about three weeks ago, with thousands of calls already received.
However the service providers have reported that many of those calls are not genuine concerns related to the deadly virus.
Before calling, people should ponder that if they do not have symptoms and would not ordinarily see their doctor based on how they feel, they should reconsider calling the hotlines.
However, anyone with respiratory symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, difficulty breathing or fever, are asked to utilise the hotlines.
The numbers again are 45-VIRUS and 53-VIRUS.
