The St. Patrick’s Anglican School is a recipient of four goats from the Ministry of Agriculture’s Goat Facility at Laura in St. David, as the Ministry commits to assisting the school with its Goat Dairy Project.

In a short ceremony at the school last Friday, Livestock Officer, Nugent Bernard, handed over two breeding bucks and two doelyns to the cause of the project.

The school’s Goat Dairy Project began in 2010 for the sole purpose of producing Goat’s Milk to be used in the school feeding program and also served as an auxiliary to the Belmont Estate Farm, supplying them with fresh Goat’s Milk.

However, the production of Goat’s milk was interrupted when the project was dealt an unfortunate blow, losing a large portion of its stock of over 20 does during the COVID 19 pandemic, reducing it to only four.

Nugent Bernard says the donations will be used to enhance their breeding program.

Accepting on behalf of the school was teacher, Davis John, who says this will bring in some much-needed income.
