People with disability should be given preference under the Covid Economic Stimulus Support (CESS) program.
That’s the view of one of the island’s physically challenged
Kimani La Touché who is physically challenged.
However, he did not let that get in the way of attaining full certification as an electrician and technician.
Latouche operates his own Registered small business, repairing appliances.
He says he has applied for the CESS grant since last year and during a recent visit to the office at the National Stadium, was given this news.
Mr. La touché says he has been financially strapped and was hoping to secure governments assistance through the CESS programme to create a safer and more conducive workspace.
This is how he believes applications from the physically challenged people should have been handled.
He is hopeful that some form of aid can be given to people like him in the not too distant future.
GBN sought to verify the claims made by Mr. Latouche and we reached out to a government official who referred us to Advisor to the Ministry of Economic Development and Planning Mr. Orland Romain. Efforts to reach him proved futile.
