The Grenada spotlight initiative aims to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls using a comprehensive approach. Initially, the program was planned to be implemented from January 2020 to December 2022, with phase 1 approved up to December 2021 and phase 2 under consideration.

However, due to COVID-19 and other challenges that affected the implementation, the timeframe was moved to December 2023 with the transition from Phase 1 to Phase 2 by July 2023.

On Thursday a high-level dialogue and Technical session was held with the officials from the ministry of social development and stakeholders.

Coordinator of the Spotlight Initiative is Elaine Henry Mc Queen.

She said after the review of the draft proposal for phase two, it will be submitted to the Global Spotlight Secretariat for funding.

In her remarks, Minister for Social Development Delma Thomas pointed out that the initiative should also incorporate men as they play a key role in gender-based violence.
