A special committee was appointed by government to investigate Grenada’s first covid related death.

They were given one week to examine all of the details surrounding the passing of a 72-year old male who became the country’s first COVID-related death.

The Ministry of Health indicated that it will seek to ascertain all of the facts relating to the case.

Minister for health Nickolas Steele says he was in discussion with the committee members who should have the report ready by Thursday. Extra time will be granted if necessary to ensure a thorough analysis is done.

The committee is chaired by Dr. George Mitchell and includes Dr. Emma Herry-Thompson, Dr. Beverly Nelson, Dr. Shawn Charles, Dr. Tyhesia Donald and Ms. Leslie-Ann Seon, who is the Deputy Chair.

The Ministry of Health conducted contact tracing efforts and has so far determined that 27 persons were potentially exposed.

They have all been cleared.
