IT IS NOT YET KNOWN WHETHER OR NOT ARRESTS WILL BE MADE OR CHARGES LAID ON SOME PROTESTERS FROM LAST FRIDAY’S DEMONSTRATION.

FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND OTHER SUPPORTERS CAME OUT IN THEIR NUMBERS FOR WHAT WAS EXPECTED TO BE A PEACEFUL PROTEST FOR KIMON BELLE, THE YOUNG MAN WHO LOST HIS LIFE IN A BOATING INCIDENT INVOLVING THE GRENADA COAST GUARD ON APRIL 24TH.

STREETS SURROUNDING THE TANTEEN AREA WERE BLOCKED OFF TO ACCOMMODATE THE PROTESTORS CALLING FOR JUSTICE FOR KIMON. RGPF MEMBERS WERE THERE TO ensure ORDER WAS MAINTAINED, HOWEVER TENSION ESCALATED, AND VIOLENCE ERUPTED.

VIDEO FOOTAGE SHOWED PROJECTILES BEING THROWN AT POLICE AND AN OFFICER ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED BY SOME DEMONSTRATORS.

CORPROL KUDINA DOUGLAS MCLEAN EXPLAINED THAT INVESTIGATIONS ARE ONGOING TO DETERMINE THE POSSIBLE OUTCOME, IF ANY, OF THIS SITUATION.
