If health officials order you into self-isolation or quarantine due to covid19 and as such your financial income is affected, the national insurance scheme is now offering such people sickness benefits

Employees and self-employed persons who contribute to the national insurance scheme NIS can now claim for sickness benefit if they have been instructed by health officials to quarantine or self-isolate.

This announcement was made on Tuesday by public relations officer at NIS Lisa Douglas during an interview with the Government Information Service programme.

A sickness benefit form has been specially created for this purpose and can be downloaded from the NIS website or collected from any NIS office. If applying for the benefit, employers can certify the sick leave period
