Education Minister Emmalin Pierre is now responsible for all ministerial duties under the ministry of education while her colleague Pamela Moses will now sit in the office of Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell.

Moses whose responsibility was for Tertiary Education, Skills Development and Education Outreach, will now be responsible for Special Projects, Needy Assistance and ICT.

Government in a news release issued says in her new capacity, Minister Moses will have responsibility for a budget of close to $15 million, as well as multi-million dollar ICT projects that will promote the country’s digital government strategy among other things.

Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Dr Keith Mitchell say the change is to address promised quick action to address the troubling issues at the island’s lone college.

Minister Pierre is expected to play a more hands-on role in addressing the issues at TAMCC.

Dr. Mitchell also confirmed the appointment of Dr. Spencer Thomas who replaces Augustine Vesprey and will serve as Interim Chairman.

Among the issues identified at the college are ineffective leadership, the lack of proper management structures, inadequate accountability, financial planning and budgeting, lack of effective communication, irregularities in the hiring process and chronic absenteeism at the senior management level.
