The Minister of Social Development in celebrating International Women’s Day today March 8th visited several communities in the parish of St. George to launch an initiative that will help women and families.
This year’s International Women’s Day campaign calls on people to work towards a world that is impartial, inclusive, and free from bias and discrimination so the playing field is leveled for women moving forward.
Annually March 8th is carded as international women’s day; a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about women’s equality lobby for accelerated gender fairness, fundraise for female-focused charities.
The theme this year is “Break The Bias: Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”,
The minister of social development in this regard visited homes in the south of the island to wish women a happy international women’s day while at the same time gaining information that will improve the minister’s services.
Cyrus says the intention is to continue with this initiative on a regular basis in various communities across the island.
