The two suspects in the GUT Credit Union armed robbery in Carriacou have been arrested in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
According to head of the community relations department superintendent Vannie Curwen the arrest is a preliminary process to having the two men extradited from St. Vincent.
He explains that after circulating the CCTV footage of two suspects believed to be responsible for the robbery, their counterparts in St Vincent carried out the arrest of the accused on a preventional warrant who already had them in custody
Curwen adds that Grenada’s Director of Public Prosecution Christopher Nelson was in the process of making a formal extradition request through diplomatic channels to have the two suspects return to Grenada to face trial.
Superintendent Curwen estimates the time frame of the formal extradition request to be within 30 days.
The two suspects are nationals of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
