Father of a man shot during a police operation in the Fontenoy area on Wednesday says the action taken by the lawmen was unwarranted.

Chris Regis a well-known swim coach remains hospitalized but his father says his life may never be the same.

In an exclusive interview with GBN on Thursday an emotional Mr. Regis relayed to GBN what his son told him about the incident.

Police confirmed through a news release issued on Wednesday that an investigation has commenced into the incident.

Mr. Regis believes the action taken by the lawmen was too hasty.

The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) says it is committed to upholding an impartial and transparent investigation into this incident.

Mr. Regis told GBN that he will ensure he gets full justice for his son and intends to take legal action against those responsible.

Chris Regis remains hospitalized.

This is the second police involved shooting with civilians over the past four months. The last incident was the shooting of well-known footballer of Gouyave St John, Jamal Charles, on July 5.
