Not much information has been disclosed and apparently not more will be about Grenada’s oil and gas initiatives.
Government’s says it has entered a confidentially sealed agreement with Global Petroleum Group (GPG) over the country’s potential oil and gas products.
As to how long before Grenadians find out the contents of the agreement and possible benefits to Grenada was not disclosed.
When quizzed on estimated revenues by Opposition Senator Ron Redhead , Senator Stiell says people can expect developments in Agriculture, Health and other sectors.
Senator Stiell at the time was addressing the 2nd Session of the 10th Parliament.
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell announced one day before the March 13th General Election that “significant gas and oil” have been found in the territorial waters of Grenada.
The announcement was made at a massive rally in St. Andrew.
The discovery was made by Russian outfit Global Petroleum Group (GPG) which has been undergoing an exploratory drilling campaign.
“The report said that we have found significant gas and oil in the waters of Grenada in one Well so far”, he told party supporters, “You know what that means for your future, it means a lot for the future of this country.”
“Sisters and brothers, one Well, we have several more wells which are even more exciting than the one they just found. In other words, Grenada can be a massive supplier of oil and gas,” Prime Minister Mitchell said.
