And its official, ‘Spice Mas, D Return’ has been launched.
Following a two year hiatus, all aspects of carnival are back; Calypso, Soca, Pan, Queen Show, jab jab, parade of bands among others, with added features.
The Spicemas Corporation revised its initially announced scaled down version of Carnival, after government removed Covid regulations on April 4th.
Acknowledging that Grenadians must learn to co-exist with Covid, Culture Minister Yoland Bain Horsford noted that it will not be at the expense of losing others and cited the need for constant monitoring.
Proper planning she adds augers well for the success of carnival, and so expressed thanks to all stakeholders involved.
Addressing hundreds who attended the festival’s launch at the National Stadium, the culture minister sees this as a time where much revenue is generated.
Ambassador and Chairman of the Spice mas Cooperation Arley Gill says their intent for the next few years is to create a carnival that is world class and urged everyone to play their part through participation.
The launch was also marked by a moment of silence to recognize the contributions made by cultural icons that have passed due to Covid -19.
