The Grenada Broadcasting Network will transform the media waves into a cultural landscape over the next 7 days as it brings live coverage of events on the sister island of Carriacou and neighbouring Trinidad and Tobago.
The activities begin with GBN’s coverage of Fantastic Friday and the International Soca Monarch in Trinidad.
Five Grenadian artistes are vying for the ISM title with two appearing in the Groovy Monarch competition and the other three in the power Soca contest.
V’ghn and Mandela Linkz open the challenge in the groovy monarch completion and will be followed in the Power Soca by reigning Soca Monarch King, Little Natty and Thunder, Mr. Legz and Mr. Killa.
GBN will also be bringing live and packaged reports from the sister island of Carriacou which is also hosting carnival events from Thursday to Carnival Tuesday.
GBN’s Akisha Felix will travel to Hillsborough and will be sending live reports via GBN Television, K105, Hott 98 and GBN’s Facebook platform.
Felix anticipates an excellent fusion of local and Caribbean cultural flavours.
She will spearhead live streaming of the various shows including the Carriacou J’ouvert, Monday Night Mas and Tuesday’s Shakespeare Mas which is unique to the sister island.
GBN will have a delayed broadcast of the Carriacou Carnival Queen Show, the Dimanche Gras and other major events. These will be recorded and broadcasts as part of the GBN’s local prime-time programme schedule.
GBN will also carry a live broadcast of the Trinidad and Tobago carnival activities as part of its commitment to the regional goal of creating a more integrated Caribbean Community.
