CIBC FirstCaribbean made its contribution towards the sharing of cricket, culture and crime fighting skills with a recent donation to the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) cricket team.
The team is headed to St Lucia from April 10– 24 to take part in the annual regional police T20 cricket tournament.
In 2018 Grenada played host to the tournament and was well supported by the attendance of regional teams from St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Lucia, St Kitts & Nevis, Barbados and Trinidad.
The RGPF is now in the process of raising funds to ensure that their 30-person delegation is able to reciprocate this
support.
Apart from the sporting aspect of the event the tournament provides an opportunity for the development of police networking and relationships, which strengthen the ability to fight crime on a regional level through the sharing of information, expertise and experience.
CIBC FirstCaribbean’s country head, Nigel Ollivierre, said he was a “keen supporter of sports and fully understand the relationships and strengths it can build, via teamwork, even with country barriers.
The bank is fully invested in the importance of networking and the creation of information sharing platforms which can benefit not just one but any number of our island nations which choose to invest and participate in such events as the Police T20 tournament”.
Josiah Malcolm, Customer Service Representative for the bank was pleased to be chosen to present the funds to the RGPF team representative for T20, Miss Valerie Dumont.
Members of the Grenadian delegation are also each contributing to the finances required for the trip, however, the final expense amount of $25,000.00ECD, is still to be reached.
