Plunged into financial difficulties due to theft and loss of external funding, the Grenada Planned Parenthood Association is seeking funding from its traditional partners which include the government of Grenada.

The board of directors has also taken the radical decision to close the close its doors to the public and sell the association’s main asset which is its building on De Pontu Street in St George’s to cover the outstanding debts.

The clients of the association have been the hardest hit and chairman of the board Tyrone Buckmire says they have shown distress and anger at the closed doors.

Nurse Avis Theodore, former employee at the association says The Family Planning clinic has played an important role in Grenada, providing non-partisan services to the poor, the middle and upper class.
