The Grenada Football Association has committed itself to making football more competitive.

It’s with this in mind that the GFA is continuing to make significant financial injection into the local clubs.

The process has already begun with the increasing of prize money for the top three finishers in the premiere league.

The payments have been increased to 100 thousand dollars in 2019, compared to that of 59 thousand last year.

Competitions officer Bruce Swan says the plan also includes the expanding of the football season from six to nine months.

Swan says the expansion will also address the seeming lackluster interest to women’s football locally.
