The agricultural sector has been forewarned of a particularly extended dry season as the precipitation outlook from the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology looks dreary.

Between January and March, it is projected that about 35 percent below normal rainfall, 35 percent normal and 3- percent above normal rainfall will occur.

With the probability that there will be 70 percent below normal to normal rainfall, Acting Chief Land Use Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture Trevor Thompson is issuing cautions as well as recommendations to farmers.
