Grenada’s Anderson Peters begins his pursuit of his first world championship gold medal when he competes in the javelin from Monday.

Peters won gold in Lima at the Panam Games with a javelin throw of 87.31 m.

He is ranked 9th in the world

Peters is one in a quartet of athletes representing Grenada at the Games

The team also includes former world champion and Olympic gold medalist Kirani James.

The former champion first won gold at the games in 2011 and followed it up with a bronze in Beijing 2015.

His has a season’s best of 44.47.

Also making the cut is Bralon Taplin, the 27 year old who competed at the 2015 games.

His has a season’s best is 44.92.
