A courtesy call to Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, president of Cricket West Indies Ricky Skerritt was here in Grenada for one day in his official capacity.
The climax of the visit being the official launch of the Windward Volcanoes franchise in Grenada, President Skerritt tells GBN that he had a lengthy discussion with Prime Minister Mitchell on the challenges of West Indies Cricket and the steps being taken to change the status quo.
Skerritt says with Grenada’s Prime Minister being a very strong cricket supporter and a former member of the Caricom Cricket Committee, he was brought up to date with some of the progress the new executive has made.
The CWI president also met with minister for sports Senator Norland Cox and he highlighted that grassroots was the focus of their discussion. Skerritt believes Grenada has a very keen support system in the public sector which can be strengthened and built upon in other areas.
