Work continues towards providing avenues for crop insurance for local farmers who encounter loss of their crops during a disaster

This discussion becomes more important as the hurricane season approaches

Farmers’ representative in the senate hopes that by years end farmers should have access to this facility

Cocoa and Nutmeg are the two crops currently considered for Crop Insurance.

Several factors must be taken into account before a decision can be reached for other crop coverage.

Speaking to Senator Roderick St. Clair on Wednesday he explained what is currently done stating that they have made a lot of progress in this regard.

He said this is being developed from its initial phase. He explained the stages of development before finalization.

Different dynamics were explained as he referenced the stakeholders involved.

It is expected that by year’s end farmers should have access.
