President of the Grenada Union of Teachers says they have been meeting with officials from the ministry of education to address challenges faced with the new E learning platform.

In the case of E learning in Grenada, Teachers and students are learning as they go along.

They say they continue to face challenges in understanding and using the new online platform.

Marvin Andall, President of the Grenada Union of Teachers speaking on GBN beyond the headlines on Monday said in order to ensure that both parties benefit during the period, regular meetings with the ministry have been held. some of the issues he highlighted include the need for training, the availability of the necessary devices

The Grenada Union of teachers he says did express to the ministry of education that what they saw as inherent challenges with the switch to online learning. some of these he trust will be addressed based on the statements made by the ministry.

The president is also calling on officials to be flexible with teachers at this time as they too are affected by the pandemic.

Andall says if a teacher is required to sign in at 8:30 in the morning, and it is a shopping day, it is highly likely that the teacher will go shopping for her family. Education he says cannot be treated as though everything i normal.

What needs to be understood is that teachers are not infected but affected by the Covid pandemic.
