After years of clamoring for a much more conducive environment for staff to function, the mold infestation at the hospital Laboratory is being addressed.
GBN was reliably informed that the night duty staff which included persons conducting the covid 19 tests was also disadvantaged as they too did not have an adequate resting place.
Since 2018 it was promised that staff will relocate to the New Wing of the hospital facility, however, it is 2021 and transition appears to be a slow process.
Director of hospital services Dr. Carol Mc intosh explains the reason behind the delayed movement.
Although there is some minor work to be done, the hospital director says the third floor of the new building is opened.
Speaking to the President of the Public Workers Union, the bargaining agent for some of the hospital staff Rachael Roberts, says there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel.
