Project Cycle Management – a cornerstone of implementation and delivery, is the backdrop against which a two day discussion is being held.
The aim of the two day conference is to raise awareness of the value of Project Cycle Management tools, in converting policy into delivery of results, and to underscore the role of leadership.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Prime minister Dr. the Rt. Honorable Keith Mitchell deemed the discussion necessary, considering the challenges facing regional governments.
He called for a change in mindset of public sector leaders across the region.
“We note too the evidence that points to significant deficits in these key areas. We must therefore focus on improving human and institutional capacity, efficiency and service delivery, to revolutionize the way we work and conduct business. It follows therefore that there must be a radical shift in the culture of the public service across the region to better support the results and to drive performance. As public sector leaders and managers, we must take ownership in the process of change” the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minster outlined Grenada’s position in formulating its sustainable development plan, which will guide the country’s development agenda for the next fifteen years.
He encouraged delegates to make much of the two days exchange.
Vice president of operations of the CDB, Monica La Bennett says this conference signals the end of CDB’s public policy analysis and project cycle management program, a milestone achievement.
La Bennett strikes the need for capacity building, with the challenges facing the region.
She says the CDB acknowledges that the implementation of development projects is a major challenge across the region.
Similar training was conducted in the nineteen borrowing member countries, as slow implementation hinders the delivery of tangible development results.
The conference is sponsored by the Caribbean Development Bank, in collaboration with the Government of Grenada.
