Grenada Electricity Company Limited (Grenlec), in partnership with the Grenada Schools Inc. and the Ministry of Education presented the Calliste Government School with its own library.

The 650 sq. Ft. Space was officially handed over to students, principal and staff of the school at the end of January.

Grenada Schools Inc. is a charity that is focused on poverty alleviation, which includes the building of libraries in every primary school in Grenada.

Andrea Phillip, Chief Executive Officer of Grenada Schools Inc., commended Grenlec for their significant donation, which constituted 67% of the funding for the library through its Community Partnership initiative.

Grenlec’s financial contribution was $120,000.00

Financial Controller for Grenlec, Benedict Brathwaite highlighted the company’s commitment to education, saying the library is a critical part of an enabling environment, to spark children’s knowledge and interest in the world.

The library is stocked with books for all reading levels, a number of which have been written and illustrated by Grenadian authors and artists.
