A prisoner was recaptured on Thursday morning following his failed attempt at escaping police custody.

According to reports the prisoner was scheduled to appear at the magistrate’s court on Thursday, when he escaped the custody of the officers escorting him to the courtroom.

It is understood that the prisoner ran down St. John’s Street while the officers fired gunshots in the air, and got as far as St. John’s Street, before he was recaptured.

Police officers who were in the city attending to Thursday’s raging fire on Grenville Street aided in his apprehension.
