The annual billfish tournament runs from January 26 to 31, welcoming fishing enthusiasts in pursuit of marlin, sailfish, and other prized billfish species. The event features three days of fishing within the week-long schedule and is a staple on Grenada’s sporting calendar. Organizers highlight the tournament’s role in promoting sustainable fishing practices and positioning Grenada as a leading Caribbean destination for sport fishing. This year, the Grenada tourism authority joins as title sponsor, aiming to further spotlight the island’s appeal to anglers worldwide. The tournament benefits the local economy, providing a boost to hotels, restaurants, marinas, and tourism-related businesses. Six Barbadian vessels are competing, they are “remember me now,” “legacy,” “bill fisher,” “Carib girl,” “game on,” and “De Reel Vikings.” Captain Malcolm Thompson, a regular participant, leads one of the Barbadian teams.
