The government is embracing all available opportunities in the interest of building the agriculture sector

Grenada’s agriculture minister senator Adrian Thomas travels to Trinidad as part of that initiative

Grenada is expected to benefit significantly from a four-year regional Project spearheaded by the Food and Agricultural Organization to the tune of US 90M dollars.

The project is geared at the execution of sustainable Land Management and Land degradation in the Caribbean.

Regional Technical Officers began the groundwork at the high-level forum on Monday in Trinidad and Tobago.

Agriculture Minister Senator Adrian Thomas joins the forum on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Speaking ahead of his two-day engagement at the regional meeting Senator Thomas indicated that the project is already bearing fruits in Grenada.

The Regional Sustainable Land and Soil Management Projects are initiatives of the Partnership for Sustainable Land Management (PISLM), funded and supported by the Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the University of the West Indies- St. Augustine Campus, the Global Environment Facility and member states including Grenada.

Other territories involved in the project are Antigua and Bermuda, Barbados, Belize, Guyana, St Lucia Haiti, and Jamaica.
