Several people are incensed that a man, who has pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct with a minor, has not been made to face any jail time.

Treverson Roberts, pleaded guilty to one count of indecent assault of a minor during a hearing on Wednesday.

Roberts was ordered to pay a fine of $1,500 to the court and $600  to the family to cover counselling fees.

This was confirmed to GBN News  by Dr. Augustine Panchoo, a Psychologist, attached to the Ministry of Social Development and the Bacolet Rehabilitation Center.

Dr. Panchoo confirmed to GBN that Roberts admitted to forcing the five year old male, who was left in his care, to perform oral sex on him.

The case, was heard at the Grenville Magistrates Court by Magistrate Nevlyn John.

The court’s failure to put him behind bars has triggered fresh calls for stiffer penalties for sex offenders and a review of related legislation

When contacted,The Grenada Coalition on the Rights of the Child, could not offer a comment immediately. Representative, Ann Greaves, told GBN that they have reached out to the family and they intend to pursue the matter.

Roberts is originally from La Poterie in St.Andrew and is also believed to be a U.S. citizen.

An advocacy group, Grenadian Women Inc, says it has filed a  complaint with the FBI, The US Attorney for Southern District, US Customs, Brooklyn’s District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Attorney General Office. They are asking for an investigation into Roberts conduct in the U.S.
