Peter David member of parliament for the town of St George has lamented the display of too much resentment and bitterness by members of both the government and opposition sides in the house during the 2025 budget debate. In his opening statement for the debate, David, who became an independent member after resigning from the main opposition new national party in January, said he was not representing sides in the house. He suggested that all members should work towards sharing ideas for the development of the country based on the ec$1.9 billion budget presented by finance minister Dennis Cornwall.
